Tunisian, often referred to as Afghan crochet, uses hooks that
are longer than "regular" crochet hooks.
Tunisian crochet combines both crochet and knitting skills and creates beautiful patterns and textures. The finished product is often thought to be knitted rather than crocheted!
When using this type of crochet hook, the yarn tends to make a much denser and plush "fabric". Because it is thicker and less "elastic", it is great for blankets and winter wear, but less so for "finer" crochet items.
I have not tried and Tunisian crocheting, but it is on my list to learn how! Oh the things that I am wanting to make with this type of crochet!
