I love to travel. It's right up there with crocheting!
When I was young, my family travelled from across the country to visit my grandparents. We always drove. My parents planned the trip so that we could stop and see different things along the way. I remember one time mom was driving, and she just pulled off the freeway in Missouri. Dad immediately asked if we needed gas. We didn't, but mom wanted to go to this wooden bowl store that she had seen advertising for on the highway. Another time, as we drove across Kansas, I remember thinking that I could see the highway at least 50 miles ahead because it was so flat and there were no trees. On one of those trips, my grandmother taught me to crochet. One of my best memories!
For several years I worked for a small regional airline. That's when I got the travel bug in earnest! My kids got a taste of travel. They really didn't like it when we would drive for 2 1/2 hrs rather than fly 30 minutes!
A couple of years ago I finally go to Europe! My youngest son was deployed to Germany. This gave me a great opportunity to visit him, see more of the world, and since I went during Christmas, I got to visit many of the Christkindl Markts. I had a day in Paris on each end of my trip, and I can't wait to go back and spend much more time in that beautiful city.
I fell in love with Bavaria. All the small towns and their tall church steeples, the narrow cobblestone streets, German food, and the Autobahn!
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is part of the "Romantic Road" in Germany. If you have the chance, I highly recommend it!
In a few weeks I'm headed to New York City! Stay tuned! I'll be sharing photos on my Instagram page and here on my blog!
What fun plans do you have for your summer?
